Zach Freedman
Agility Trainer
Zach Freedman began agility as a junior at the age of 11 in 2008 with his first dog, a Shetland Sheepdog named Buddy. After starting with basic obedience training and 4-H, the team soon added agility to their list of dog sports to participate in. Zach ended up taking Buddy to AKC Junior Nationals twice, winning first in 16” agility in 2010 and first in Novice Obedience in 2011. The team also competed in the DOCNA nationals in 2009, winning first place among juniors on the east coast. After starting with a variety of sports, obedience, rally and agility, Zach ended up focusing on agility, competing in different agility venues and training with world team competitors. Buddy ended up achieving his MX, MXJ, OF, T2B, CD, and RA titles. Zach began training his second dog, another Sheltie named Quick, in 2019 and now competes in agility with her. In addition to competing in dog sports, Zach also uses his animal handling skills as an animal wrangler in television shows, movies, and commercials. Buddy has appeared in a few commercials and as background in Orange Is The New Black. Quick has appeared as background in HBO’s The Gilded Age. He also handles many dogs and other animals not his own.
